General Summary of Duties: Responsible for planning and coordinating the daily activities of the physical therapy department. as well as providing direct patient care including assessing, interpreting, planning and implementing, physical therapy treatments.

Examples of Duties: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
  • Assesses patient condition, establishes goals, treatments and care plan in conjunction with physician and patient/family.
  • Ensures that appropriate treatment is performed in interdisciplinary fashion, consulting with physicians and other departments about impact of physical therapy factor on patient health status.
  • Documents findings, treatments and other patient information for medical record.
  • Complies with appropriate clinic policies related to infection control and safety regulations.
  • Educates patient/family on appropriate care and use of various therapies and exercises.
  • Conducts and participates in clinic educational programs.
  • Assists other therapists in planning treatment programs.
  • Maintains department in a clean and orderly manner. Keeps equipment in good working condition.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Maintains patient and office confidentiality.
  • Ensures the development and delivery of the Physical Therapy education to staff.
  • Performs related work as required.


Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in physical therapy; successful completion of clinical internship.

Experience: Minimum of two years experience preferred as physical therapist, preferably in clinic setting. Computer experience required.

Certificate/License: Current state of Florida physical therapy license.
