Central Regional Hospital

We are currently recruiting for multiple Physicians at Central Regional Hospital (CRH). The major responsibility of the Physician is to assure optimum patient care and medical management of patients at Central Regional Hospital.

Job responsibilities include the following:

  • Provides medical services for patients admitted to Central Regional Hospital.
  • Direct ongoing management of medical conditions throughout the patients' hospitalization.
  • Complete History and Physical Assessments.
  • Respond to and participate in the management of medical emergencies for all client groups experiencing acute medical decompensation.
  • Collaborate with treatment teams to effectively exchange medically significant information


The Medical Division MDs/PAs/NPs provide care to the CRH and Whitaker PRTF psychiatric population for acute, chronic and emergency medical conditions. The patient population is ages 5 years to advanced age geriatric. This care is provided in an accredited, state of the art psychiatric facility with a Medical Psychiatric Unit, Lab, Radiology, PT, OT, Speech Language, Dental and Neurology on site services.

Additional responsibilities include occupational health, NP/PA supervision and teaching/mentoring of UNC PGY-1 trainees. CRH has ACCME accreditation, and many hours of medical and psychiatric CME provided on site. This position reports to the Medical Director of Medical Services and works collaboratively with Psychiatrist, Nurses, Social Workers and many other disciplines involved in the delivery of our patient centered treatment and recovery services.

These are full-time positions and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. The normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and rotating call; however, flexibility is required to meet hospital needs. The position is designated as Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Applicant must have the ability to obtain and maintain certification in American Cardiac Life Saving (ACLS).

Management Prefers:
  • Successful completion of an internship and residency in one or more of the primary care disciplines (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Medicine and Psychiatry, Medicine and Pediatrics, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Emergency Medicine, Physiatry and Neurology) however specialty trained applicants will be considered.

Physical Requirements:

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus (effective August 8, 2022)

Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
