MaineHealth Cardiology is seeking an Interventional Cardiologist to join their team in the greater Portland, Maine area. The successful candidate will join a group of experienced, caring and compassionate Cardiologists providing comprehensive services including general, invasive, interventional and electrophysiological services. This position offers:
  • Opportunities to expand our clinical interventional research program and participate in leadership roles within the Cardiovascular Service Line.
  • A direct teaching role with Maine Medical Center's Cardiology Fellows, as well as teaching and mentoring medical students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine Medical School Program.
  • Academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.
  • A growing practice of over 70 cardiologists with locations in Augusta, Lewiston, Rockport, Scarborough, and Waterville. This fully integrated practice works closely with Maine Medical Center and other regional hospitals and practices to build a coordinated network of care.
  • There are currently 9 Interventionalists who take dedicated interventional call.
  • Our high volume lab is one of the busiest in northern New England having completed over 1600 PCIs and 5000 cardiac catheterizations last year.
  • We participate in advanced programs for chronic total occlusion PCI, peripheral arterial disease, valvular heart disease, structural heart disease, advanced heart failure, and pulmonary hypertension. In addition, we have diagnostic cath lab capabilities at several of the regional hospitals within the health system that support our interventional programs at Maine Medical Center.
  • Team-based care model with collaborative approach to care.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in general and interventional cardiology.
  • Early to mid-career physician with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience and a clinical focus on coronary interventions.
  • Experience with advanced mechanical support systems, modern CTO techniques, cardiac biopsies, and an interest in outcomes research and epidemiology would be desirable.
