Job Description
Attend all low-risk newborn deliveries requiring pediatric presence - assign Apgars as indicated, initiate skin-to-skin, etc Assist Neonatologist with high-risk deliveries Provide rescue care - including resuscitation, respiratory support and more (NRP) in the OR/DR as indicated; escalate to NICU Team as indicated Complete/document admissions and discharges of newborns on Mother-Baby Unit, ensuring that all screening tests are complete and documented - including TcB, CCHD, Hearing screening, newborn screen and more, along with a f/u newborn appt in Pediatrics Educate, support and facilitate new moms to be successful breastfeeding their newborn Perform assessments, write orders, write progress notes Make inpatient and outpatient referrals to subspecialists, as indicated, in collaboration with the neonatologist Evaluate and clear male newborns for circumcision, in collaboration with OB service, and provide post-procedure assessment Order and obtain blood tests, screening tests and other tests, as indicated Interface with mothers and families to report on the status of their newborns Educate mothers and families on appropriate newborn care post-discharge
Minimum Qualifications
1. Current New York State registration as a Physician Assistant; and,
2. Current certification issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA); and,
3. Two years of full time, satisfactory clinical experiences as a Physician Assistant.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Current New York State registration as a Physician Assistant; and,
2. Current certification issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA); and,

Department Preferences
- 3 or more years of experience in Newborn Services and/or Pediatrics
- NRP and/or PALS Certification
- CLC
- Knowledgeable in Maternal-Child Health
- Knowledgeable in Breastfeeding Support
- Neonatal Resuscitation Experience
- Quality Improvement Experience
