Physician Assistants serve in a variety of medical specialties and are trusted medical care professionals. A Physician Assistant, or PA, is primarily responsible for patient care under the supervision and direction of a Physician within a medical care staff. Physician Assistants act independently, as well as part of a collaborative team to gather medical history of their patients, determine diagnoses, and prepare, implement, and measure effectiveness of treatment and care plans. Minimum qualifications
Experience
Minimum of 1-2 years OR clinical perioperative experience. 1-2 years' experience in the Nurse Practitioner role preferred. Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.
- Assisting Physicians with examinations
- Developing and implementing patient care plans and treatment
- Ordering laboratory and diagnostic testing
- Interpreting testing results
- Prescribing medicine and medical interventions
- Assisting in providing acute and chronic illness care to patients
- Assisting in surgeries
- Informing and educating family members on the condition of patients
- Counseling patients on preventative health practices
- Providing clinical direction and leadership to healthcare provider team
Requirements
Minimum qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school with a Bachelor of Science Degree
- Graduate of an accredited school with a Master's Degree from the Physician Assistant Program
- Current PANCE (if applicable) certification
- Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); PALS provider card as required by department and facility
- Current New York State license
- Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Eligible for hospital privileges
