This PA will be responsible for:
Outpatient
  • Approximately 12 hours of clinic time per week (3 sessions, 4 patients per session)
  • Providing care to infants, children, and teens with rare genetic disorders seen in the Genetics clinics, to positively impact both episodic and longitudinal patient care coverage and health outcomes for the patients, according to approved guidelines.
  • Actively participating in QI initiatives.
  • Collaborating with physicians to conduct patient assessments and medical histories, physical exams, and to diagnose health and developmental problems.
  • Patients/visit types to include, but not limited to, autism and developmental delay evaluations and evaluations of patients with suspected connective tissue disorders

Inpatient
  • Hours 8 am - 6 pm, Monday - Friday when assigned to the inpatient service
  • Connecting with overnight team and pre-rounding on current inpatients.
  • Taking first page for in-patient consult service and writing notes on new consults and follow-up patients
  • Reviewing clinical cases each day with Metabolism attending and rounding on new and follow-up patients.
  • Updating signout document for Metabolism service.

To qualify, you must have:
  • A Master's degree from a PA program
  • A current Massachusetts PA license
  • The ability to work in collaboration with physicians, nurses, mid-level providers and ambulatory staff is essential.
  • Analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experience-based knowledge.
  • Communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions and well-developed writing skills.

Overall structure:

Approximately two weeks per month, Monday through Friday, fully inpatient, with the Metabolism team, Approximately two weeks per month, Monday through Friday, 3 clinic sessions per week.
