Duties * The SRU medical provider, working closely with SRU nurse case managers, occupational therapists (OTs), physical therapists (PTs), and social workers. * Ensures maximum quality of care and ease of access and appropriate rapidity to reaching Medical Retention Determination Point (MRDP) and recovery. * Responsible for the entire medical recovery plan to assess, write appropriate referrals, complete documentation to include profiles, order appropriate tests, communicate among other medical specialists, and do care management duties. * Review, evaluate, and analyze cases of individuals being processed for fitness for duty evaluations due to illnesses or injuries. * Provides key input during the Soldier's interdisciplinary team by attending meetings focused on the recovery plan. * Completes Soldier paperwork for Line of Duty, Profiles, Special Compensation for Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (SCAADL), Non-Medical Assistant, and other program requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment * One year trial/probationary period may be required. * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * A Personnel Security Investigation is required * This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis. * This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. * Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. * All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). * Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion. * A pre-placement medical examination is required. * This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. * Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges. * The work requires potential lifting of items weighing less than 50 pounds such as record boxes and/or equipment. * This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. * The Medical Provider must be Board certified in his/her medical specialty and must maintain such certification in Family Practice. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Basic Requirement for Physician (Family Practice): Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Residency Training: Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled (Family Practice or Family Medicine) and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 4 years. Experience may not be substituted for residency training that is required for the specialty identified. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
