Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct patient care at multiple locations / travel between Birmingham and Centreville
- Review of treatment plans / collaboration with behavioral health staff on more complicated cases and patients with SUD
- Telemedicine consults with CMCF providers or directly with patients in crisis situations
- Recommending and designing treatment plans for patients
- Treats a diverse patient population, across gender, age and ethnicity, as well as insured and uninsured patients.
- Interviews and examines patient to determine health history and general physical condition. Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines.
- Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition.
- Diagnoses conditions as appropriate
- Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
- Educates patients on a variety of health topics as appropriate during patient encounters
- Provides accurate and timely documentation of all patient encounters including phone encounters
- Completes Electronic Superbills on a daily basis that includes accurate ICD-9 and CPT codes
- Participates in provider staff meetings to develop problem-solving techniques, and acquire team-building skills.
- Participates in peer reviews.
- Represent CMCF at conferences, meetings, and continuing education programs
- Performs clinical and/or other organizational related services as directed by the Medical Director. Will also participate in precepting medical students and residents as assigned by the CMO. Serves as a resource to mid-level providers in clinic.
- Performs other duties as assigned or as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Current and valid board certification in psychiatry
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school and completion of an approved psychiatric residency
- Licensed to practice medicine in Alabama
- Current DEA registration
- Familiar with crisis assessment tools and techniques
- Strong working knowledge of general psychiatric principles and practices
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Travel Required:
- Physician will have direct patient care at Birmingham and Centreville locations on a weekly basis. CMC location for the remainder of the physician's weekly schedule (collaboration and telemedicine time) is open for discussion.
