Position Summary: Provide comprehensive culturally competent, compassionate, and high-quality patient care services to women throughout their life span. Provide integrated medical and surgical care for both obstetrical and gynecologic management. Meets, evaluates, and diagnoses patients and develops plans for women-specific diseases and health conditions. Educates and prescribes patients with appropriate medication, treatments, and lifestyle adjustments that contribute to recovery from diagnosed diseases or prevention of future health issues. Maintains timely and accurate medical documentation. Coordinates with other medical staff and participates in committees and forums as needed.

Critical Tasks:

  • Supervises and trains physician assistants, residents, and medical students on proper procedures and protocol.
  • Conducts routine check-ups on patients to monitor and assess health conditions and discover possible issues.
  • Provides comprehensive examinations and ancillary testing on female reproductive health problems; analyzes reports, test results, and medical records to diagnose conditions and prescribe appropriate pharmaceuticals, medications, and treatment options.
  • Obtain and maintain privileges at local hospital(s) for both obstetrical and gynecological care.
  • Provide prenatal, antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care including operative and/or surgical management of obstetrical patients.
  • Provide gynecologic surgical services including both minor and major surgical procedures.
  • Provide assigned shared call to serve as on-call OB/GYN consultant for Sacaton HHK ED and Inpatient.
  • Refers patients to specialists for laboratory and radiology tests as needed.
  • Maintains timely and accurate documentation of examination results, treatment plans, and patients' outcomes in accordance with all regulatory and payer requirements.
  • Discusses healthcare practices, techniques, test results, and procedures in lay terms to explain medical treatments to patients in a thorough, respected, and collaborative manner.
  • Advises patients on lifestyle or diet changes that may improve health conditions during prenatal, natal, and postnatal periods.
  • Coordinates with other specialty areas to discuss cases that require multi-disciplinary approach.
  • Responds to any questions or concerns of patients.
  • Participates in staff meetings, workshops, committees, and forums as required.
  • May be requested to perform duties during non-routine clinic hours or at other associated clinic sites.
  • Performs other job-related activities, including inpatient admission and nursing home service, as requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited program of study leading to a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Optometric Association (AOA)-approved Obstetrics/Gynecology (OB/GYN) residency program.
  • Current, unrestricted, and valid State of Arizona medical license issued by the Arizona Medical Board or the Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners in Medicine & Surgery.
  • Board Eligibility in Obstetrics/Gynecology (ABOG or AOBOG) required.
  • Board certification in Obstetrics/Gynecology (ABOG or AOBOG) Preferred.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license or ability to obtain the license upon hire.
  • Current and continuing BLS training and certifications
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.
