Position Summary
The Institution Physician is responsible for providing professional Primary Care medical services to persons in our care. The Primary Care Physician diagnoses and treats illness and injuries, and arranges for professional consultation when warranted.
The Primary Care Physician develops individual plans of care for patients, performs both chronic and acute care visits, and assists with medical emergencies. This position participates in multidisciplinary care team meetings, and also has the opportunity to participate in quality improvement initiatives. This position also participates in he day and evening on-call rotation.
This position also participates in the Quality Improvement Program and Infection Control Program and provides direct care at other institutions during vacations, illness, or emergencies, as directed. Takes on-call assignments as directed by the Bureau.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule and range 10-51 with pay starting from $93.82/hour to $117.28/hour .
Board Certified Physicians may earn supplemental pay of up to $21.00/hr (for maximum effective wage of $135.98/hour, $282,838/year), while those that are eligible but not yet certified may earn up to$7.00/hr(for maximum effective wage of $121.98/hr, $253,718/year).
Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire.
A twelve-month probationary period is required.

- Possess a current, unrestricted/unlimited license to practice medicine in the State of Wisconsin
- Possess a current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number
- Have education or training in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another area of primary care
