Community/Facility info: 169 bed facility with cardiac rehab; a new 15-room E.D.; critical care beds and telemetry; a peri-natal Women's Care Center; a sophisticated interventional radiology unit; a 5-room O.R. suite; a radiology department with fast CT, dual head Nuclear Medicine, noninvasive vascular lab and on-site 1.5 tesla MRI magnet (with the highest available gradients, 8 channel system and the finest available coils); a cardiac catheterization suite; and a quickly expanding Home Health/Hospice/Home Infusion program. In addition, a 54,000 square foot, two-story Health & Rehabilitation Center offering rehabilitation services, health education programs, and health prevention regimens. Town of 10,000 people with a healthy downtown business district and a variety of restaurants, stores, and cultural events unusual for a town of its size. There is an active arts community in our county with many independent potters, painters, weavers, and sculptors having studios in the area. There is a rich tradition of folk dance and acoustic music in this area. Also home to a community theater, which is usually producing one or two productions and occupies a beautiful new performing arts center. We are all very enthusiastic about the quality of life available in this community. Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains with elevations ranging from 1,300 to 6,600 feet. The County contains portions of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Appalachian Trail, two Federal wilderness areas, and large areas of National forest. Because of our altitude, we have very mild summers with temperatures rarely getting into the nineties. Because of our southern latitude, we also have mild winters.
