Description

The Planning Coordinator works closely with the agency Planning Team to conduct cross-department planning, and analysis, perform special projects and produce written materials. This role plays a key part in agency-wide strategic planning and implementation, as well as coordinating and managing division deliverables. Additionally, the Planning Coordinator provides essential support for early care and education ballot measures. This is a generalist role in the division.
  • Conducts planning and project management for agencywide and division-specific projects in service to F5AC's strategic plan, agency growth and change, and the Alameda County early childhood system, including the implementation of local ballot measures for early childhood education.
  • Develops written materials (briefings, memos, overviews, etc.), presentations, outlines, timelines, tools, dashboards, and templates in service to planning goals
  • Plays a lead role in the strategic planning, development and implementation of Agency strategic plans
  • Provides leadership and support of Agency change management
  • Partners with Agency Leadership and designees to support implementation of goals and reporting.
  • Coordinates reports, briefings, and presentations related to progress on strategic plan implementation and goals in partnership with Data and Evaluation, Policy, Program, and Communications staff
  • Forecasts deliverables, and anticipates resources and tools needed; advises Director on process
  • Coordinates cross-Agency tables with planning tools and facilitation
  • Contributes to fund development and strategies for revenue growth
  • Conducts special projects, analysis, and process support
  • Additional projects and duties as assigned


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
  • Minimum nine years of full-time progressively responsible related experience in a public or private organization
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Public Policy, Public Administration, Planning, Organizational Development, Business, or related field may be substituted for 4 years of experience. A Master's degree may be substituted for an additional year of experience.

Additional Requirements

Travel within Alameda County as necessary to carry out job duties. Some travel outside Alameda County occasionally required.

Knowledge of:
  • Principles, practices, and tools of planning and project management
  • Principles and practices of the development of effective written materials (briefing papers, presentations, etc)
  • Principles and practices of participatory process design and facilitation
  • Principles and practices of policy analysis and advocacy
  • Program development, planning, and evaluation methodologies
  • Data analysis and research methods
  • Principles and practices of fund development and report preparation
  • Principles and practices of management, supervision, training and team leadership
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity
  • Principles and practices of contract negotiation, development, and management
  • Budgetary and contract administration practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365 preferred
  • Familiarity with data visualization and reporting platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Power BI, Tableau) a plus

Ability to:
  • Work with Officer and/or Director to develop a wide variety of short- and long-range plans
  • Provide leadership and effectively organize, coordinate, and supervise projects, teams, and/or staff
  • Develop clear, concise, and compelling written documents
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing to staff, partners, and stakeholders

  • Read, analyze, and interpret common professional publications, legislative or policy documents, financial reports and related agency documents and information
  • Analyze, develop, and monitor budgets
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff throughout the Agency
  • Adapt, with minimal or no advance notice, to changes in agency operations and work assignments or procedures

Please note:
  • We are currently working a hybrid 2 day per week in-office scheduleand employees also come to the office to attend meetings and as requested.
  • All First 5 employees must live and work in California.
  • The salary range for this position is $103,000 to $144,000 and as an independent government agency, the posted salary is the set salary range for this position. We cannot offer salaries above this posted range.
