Position Summary:

The Planning Manager oversees strategic planning and grant making focused on mental health and wellbeing. With a primary focus on domestic grant making, the Planning Manager advances a large and dynamic grant portfolio including, but not limited to, initiatives in the areas of teen and parent mental health, substance abuse support, domestic violence counseling, mental health on college campuses, and projects that seek to build resilience in the face of rising antisemitism. The Planning Manager also stays apprised of emerging issues in the field and develops new initiatives as needed. The Planning Manager works in partnership with the Jewish Life and Network Departments at UJA to ensure critical services are easily accessible at Jewish camps, Hillels, and JCCs, as well as synagogues and day schools.

The Planning Manager is a seasoned professional, who can effectively:

  • Steward key lay relationship and grant making committees, educate stakeholders and build consensus.
  • Manage a substantial grant portfolio and all associated tasks, including utilizing organizational systems and technologies.
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators and analyze associated data.
  • Cultivate relationships with foundation and human service funders.
  • Develop and oversee relevant conferences and symposia.
  • Represent the Caring department at internal and external meetings and conferences.
  • Lead inter-department work groups and participate in other organizational planning and research groups.


Skills/Experience/Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial spirit with experience in project management. The candidate should be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, as well as independently and in team settings. A good sense of humor is a plus!

This position requires an advanced degree in public administration, social work, or a related field and a minimum of 7 years of related experience in a Federation or similar organization; a minimum of 5 years of related practical experience in the field, and experience in project management.

Superior oral and written communication skills are required.

Salary Information:

The salary range for this role is $90,000 to $100,000; commensurate with experience and qualifications listed above.
