Description:
Aptyx, a contract manufacturer for medical and industrial OEM's, is looking for a Plant Controller to join our team. The position will be at our plant in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Position Summary
The Plant Controller functions as a business partner to the site Plant Manager and plant staff to effectively manage, control and meet financial targets. Accountable for plant-level responsibilities including general accounting, payables approval (including PO approvals), cost accounting, bill of materials, capital expenditures, customer return/chargeback analysis, budget and forecasting, business analysis, financial reporting, local and state tax returns and plant business systems.

Position Summary

Responsibilities
- Preparation of financial results for the Aptyx Charlotte location
- Providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial analysis
- Analyze and accurately report current month's financial results to the plant, and corporate management in accordance with corporate format and time requirements
- Assisting with the annual budget process and interim forecasting process
- Strategic business partner to the site Plant Manager, collaborate to meet P&L targets
- Work with department heads on operational issues/analysis and communicate financial impact
- Create and record entries for Tooling WIP and related reporting
- Maintain and approve all General ledger balance sheet reconciliations and schedules
- Work closely with manufacturing operations to ensure accuracy of material, labor, and overhead cost allocated to jobs Monitor and improve internal controls
- Serve as a liaison to external auditors for Charlotte location
- Ensure accurate tracking of job costing, R&D and project accounting
- Work collaboratively with Human Resources department to manage Payroll activities
- Review inventory reconciliations and standard costs on a monthly basis
- Ensure accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results. Investigate and explain book to physical adjustments
- File North Carolina sales taxes, 1099's, property taxes, other tax related activities
- Fixed assets - capital review/approval, maintain assets in software
- Purchasing - manage purchase requisition system and provide Finance approvals
- Insurance certificate management
- Participate in special projects, system improvements or impromptu analysis
- Generate process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency
- Assure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Policies. Resolve questions of GAAP and internal controls with corporate financial management.
- Perform other duties as directed by Corporate Controller or Plant Manager
Requirements
- 5+ years as plant controller or cost manager in a manufacturing environment, with an emphasis on cost accounting, reporting and variance analysis
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Accreditation such as certified public accountant (CPA) or certified management accountant (CMA) preferred
- Strong understanding of system implementations and ERP design preferred
- Understanding of cost accounting preferred
- Strong analytical, technology, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites
- Experience with Pivot Table and advanced Excel skills
- Ability to multitask efficiently and prioritize work
- Commitment and ability to meet business deadlines
- Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
- Capacity to anticipate and pre-plan work

- Fast-paced office and manufacturing environment which can be demanding and some stress; including some noise, dust, thermoplastic and oil odors at times.
