The main function of a Plant Engineering Manager is to direct, coordinate and supervise all Engineering and Maintenance activities for the Molding Products facility. This position strives to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and to reduce waste.

Required Education, Experience and Skills
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering required.
  • 5+ years' work experience in a similar position. Strong understanding of batch chemical process equipment and technology. Knowledge of mixing and materials handling equipment.
  • 5+ years leadership experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCad is required.
  • Good analytical skills with a focus on continuous improvement. Six Sigma Green belt certification a plus.
  • Understanding of project justification economics - ROI, payback, IRR, life cycle costs, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office platforms (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Essential Functions (Minimal Requirements)
  • Provides direction and coordination of all engineering and contractor groups in order to maintain the plant's property and production equipment at a level needed to provide safe, efficient and uninterrupted service.
  • Serves as an Agent of Change and strives for continuous improvement within the site. This position initiates and implements changes in design and engineering that will enable the plant to operate with greater efficiency. Strives to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs, and to reduce waste.
  • Manages the plant's maintenance function through a subordinate Maintenance Supervisor and Process Engineer. Provides for work planning and direction, appraises performance, provides coaching and mentoring to staff.
  • Recommends capital expenditures required to meet the plant's production and sales objectives and to properly maintain the facility. Secures the resources needed for teams to complete these projects and expenditures.
  • Forges and maintains relationships with suppliers and customers.
  • Ensures the work performed by contractor personnel is done in an expedient and safe manner. This work is coordinated with the production department's manufacturing schedule.
  • Develops and maintains a preventive maintenance program for the plant.
  • Develops a work plan and works closely with the EHS Manager in promptly resolving issues related to identified safety and environmental or regulatory agency visits.
  • Communicates technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including investors and potential customers.
  • Attends trade shows and conferences, and makes site visits to suppliers' facilities
  • Works effectively with corporate engineering in joint larger projects.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the processing activities of the plant.
  • Develop, recommend and implement changes to control process variables in an effort to manufacture a more consistent product quality.
  • Ensure projects are completed within budget and schedule standards as established.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the plant safety, EPA, IDEM, and OSHA programs and requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
