Position Overview
The plant manager provides overall leadership to the plant through a team of functional managers and supervisors. The position ensures increasing levels of productivity and employee engagement while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials, and machines. This role helps optimize and coordinate all departments including manufacturing, maintenance, warehouse, distribution, quality, and facilities. The Plant Manager has decision-making authority for the whole plant based on input from the functional department heads and the corporate office.

Essential Job Duties
- Provide technical expertise, leadership and mentoring to drive improvements in plant performance in all areas including safety, manufacturing, planning, cost control, efficiency, and quality.
- Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
- Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
- Provides oversight for material requirements and planning to increase inventory turns, reduce levels on hand, and ensure full stock for finished goods.
- Oversees plant and employee health and safety programs.
- Lead & drive continuous Improvement/ Lean manufacturing projects to improve plant OEE.
- Represents Designs for Health to the community by building relationships with local leaders and by participation in community projects and committees.
- Ensures compliance with company standards for GMP, cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA, safety, and complete and on-time delivery.
- Reviews daily production reports to help ensure delivery of quality products on time that meet customer requirements.
- Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
- Lead company-wide efforts to identify and be a liaison to drive implementation of best practices across the company.
- Acts as a liaison with appropriate corporate support functions in achieving the desired culture of employee engagement, building optimum employee relations, appropriately training, and developing employees and obtaining employee safety goals.
- Acts as liaison with appropriate corporate support functions in ensuring compliance in accordance with all applicable regulatory agencies, such as OSHA and FDA.
- Identifies, communicates, and drives implementation of capital investments and improvement projects.
- Manages compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Maintains ultimate responsibility for all plant employees.
- Keeps senior management informed through oral, written, and digital communications.
- Track record in driving transformation and fostering a culture of accountability.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a GMP process-oriented operations and/or related industry.
- BA/BS in 4-year technical degree preferred or equivalent industry-related experience.
- FDA and dietary supplement experience preferred.
