Summary:
The Plant Manager is responsible for all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers' expectations
Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs
Work closely with the Quality Manager to maintain current quality standards
Responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime
Directs activities of production and maintains appropriate production staffing as needed to meet company goals
Responsible for shop production schedules and conducts production meetings including supervisors' meetings
Responsible for communicating policy changes from top management to others in supervision and ensures supervisors' understanding of management philosophies, safety, product handling, equipment capabilities and customer needs
Responsible for enforcing company handbook and communicates with Director of Operations on matters relating to discipline
Responsible for maintaining an effective energy conservation program, maintaining controls over labor costs, directs industrial services and approves expenditures within established company guidelines under the guidance of the Director of Operations
Responsible for purchasing and/or approving materials for shop, facilities, tooling, fixtures, etc., under the guidance of the Director of Operations.
Ensure best practices are at the forefront of all projects such as equipment installation, safety, 5S, quality, lean, preventative maintenance, etc.
Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
Responsible for the care and treatment of our customer's inventory and as such will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage
Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates and shall exercise any additional powers that are or may be legally conferred upon the position by the Director of Operations or President.
Requirements
Qualifications and Required/Preferred Skills:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, and/or progressive advancement to Plant Manager, supplemented by a minimum of 10 years' experience in Heat Treating, Brazing Operation or Manufacturing environment
Ability to interpret complex data and technical drawings to customer specifications
Understanding of QMS principles, inventory control, accounting, and financial management.
Ability to research products, materials, equipment
Proficient in Microsoft Office software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook required
Ability to use computers for data entry, word processing, spreadsheets, and custom applications
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with other staff, vendors, contractors, and the general public
Organized and detail-oriented with strong level of accuracy and the ability to multi-task
Ability to prioritize and adhere to strict deadlines
High level of integrity; ability to handle confidential information
