ROLE OVERVIEW

Thiess Mining Canada seeks a dynamic Plant Specialist to join the team at a mining project based in Sudbury, Ontario. Reporting directly to the Project Manager and functionally to the Project Controller, this pivotal role will play a crucial part in establishing Thiess Mining Canada's presence in the region. As the Plant Specialist, you will oversee daily financial and governance processes that support the project's Assets Function, with a strong focus on safety, Thiess Maintenance systems, procurement, subcontractor management, warranty, planning and execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safety Leadership: Demonstrate unwavering safety leadership, ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Asset Management: Provide effective delivery of asset management expertise both onsite and offsite.
  • Plant Maintenance: Collaborate with the Maintenance team in their day-to-day planning and execution of work.
  • Work Order Management: Efficiently distribute and manage work order packs for executing the daily maintenance plan.
  • Procure-to-Pay Process: Manage the projects procure-to-pay process, including processing invoices, accounts payable workflow (APWF), and JDE housekeeping.
  • Cost Analysis and Reporting: Provide detailed cost analysis and commentary recommendations related to fixed asset accounting.
  • Effective Communication: Maintain professional communication with suppliers, sub-contractors, and clients.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capital Expenditure: Prepare Capital Expenditure Requests and submissions.
  • Asset Master Integrity: Ensure the integrity of the Asset Master by completing relevant e-forms and liaising with the Corporate Asset Admin team.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Labor and Cost Management: Manage and reconcile internal and external maintenance labor costs, including subcontractors.
  • Warranty and Core Return: Maintain and manage the warranty register and core return register.
  • Pool Vehicle Management: Oversee pool vehicles, including external servicing and maintenance.
  • Efficient Systems Setup: Implement and maintain scalable and efficient systems.
  • Regional Collaboration: As a part of the North America region, there is an expectation of effective collaboration and knowledge sharing.

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Experience in a related field such as Fixed Asset Accounting, Finance, Asset Management or Mining Maintenance.
  • A thorough understanding of the cost structure, cost drivers, and the operations of a project site.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Authorization to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Thiess.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or work experience.

The salary range for this role is $68,252 to $96,356 and the salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Thiess considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
