Job Overview:

Qualdoc is seeking a proactive and talented Plastic Process Engineer to join our team and enhance efficiency and innovation in our manufacturing processes. Specializing in injection molding, blow molding, and extrusion, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing processes that improve performance and minimize waste. Your ability to conduct technical and economic analyses will help streamline operations and deliver innovative solutions that align with business needs. Key Responsibilities:
    • Safety Leadership: Act as a strong advocate for safety across the production floor.
    • Process Expertise: Develop a thorough understanding of key processes, equipment, and materials to create effective control plans.
    • Process Improvement: Assess existing workflows and spearhead research to evolve them into more efficient manufacturing processes.
    • Technical Analysis: Analyze product or equipment specifications to determine achievable processes within current manufacturing capabilities.
    • Training & Documentation: Review training materials and lead cross-training efforts on updated operating procedures.
    • Performance Monitoring: Test and monitor production processes to identify and implement necessary enhancements.
    • BOM Management: Update existing Bills of Materials (BOMs) based on cycle time studies and support R&D with new BOM creation for product development.
    • First Article Testing: Perform FAT for new tooling in injection molding, pipe extrusion, and blow molding.
    • Product Launch Support: Work closely with operations and product development teams to ensure smooth new product introductions.
    • Data Analysis: Design experimental test programs, analyze results, and ensure processes meet performance targets.
    • Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 6S, and Kaizen methodologies to boost quality and efficiency.
    • Root Cause Analysis: Address quality complaints through root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Lean Manufacturing: Eliminate waste and minimize product variation in value streams.
    • Team Development: Train, mentor, and motivate team members to adopt new processes and techniques.


Qualifications:
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or 5+ years of relevant plastics industry experience.
    • Experience: 3+ years in injection molding, blow molding, or extrusion (experience in all three is a plus).
    • Other Skills: Experience with ERP systems is required. Knowledge of ABS and polypropylene materials is advantageous. Strong problem-solving skills in manufacturing, particularly within metals or plastics industries, are essential.
    • Preferred Expertise: Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ISO 9001 compliance.
    • Travel Requirement: Frequent travel between plants may be necessary.
    • Physical Requirements: This role may involve frequent bending, lifting, and moving items up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodation is available.
