Summary

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Departments of Neurology and Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. The candidate will be supervised by Zhandong Liu, PhD, based in the Neurological Research Institute (NRI) at Baylor and Texas Children's Hospital. The successful candidate will focus on The NRI brings together world experts in genetics, neuroscience, computer science, and applied mathematics to pursue collaborative, interdisciplinary basic and translational research on a variety of neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders. The Liu Laboratory focuses on the integrative modeling of transcription and signaling pathway activation. The lab develops algorithms for the analysis of gene expression arrays and next-generation sequencing data, and is especially interested in addressing fundamental biological questions through machine learning and mathematical modeling approaches. Job Duties

  • Develops and applies bioinformatic and biostatistical algorithms for single-cell analysis and high-throughput genomic data (e.g., RNA-sequencing, proteomics, and genetic/epigenetic variation) to uncover molecular systems responsible for Alzheimer's disease and related neurodegenerative disorders. A key goal will be to advance methodology development to improve the accuracy and scalability of genomic analysis techniques. The successful candidate will work with interdisciplinary research teams in systems/computational biology, neurology, genomics, and neuroscience.


Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Statistics or a related field.
  • Strong mathematical/scientific programming skills.
  • Experience with bioinformatics algorithms and large-scale data analysis.
