What You Will Do
The Computer, Computational, and Statistical Sciences Division (CCS) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is currently seeking highly motivated applicants for a postdoctoral position in quantum computing and quantum information theory. LANL is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. The successful candidate for this role will work independently and as part of a team on numerous aspects of quantum computing and quantum information. A main goal is to produce the foundational research needed to understand the full potential and limitations of quantum information processing using first generation fault-tolerant quantum devices that are expected to have a limited number of logical qubits. You will also conduct research to identify areas of promise and develop theoretical and computational tools for quantum computers and communicate research results through reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Experience in one or more of the fields of quantum information theory, quantum computing, or theoretical computer science.
- Demonstrated research ability, as evidenced by publications, reports, presentations, and/or awards.
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communications skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Fundamental understanding of or experience with quantum algorithms for quantum simulation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong background in quantum information theory.
- Experience with quantum algorithms for the simulation of open quantum systems.
- Experience with quantum algorithms for applications beyond quantum simulation.
- Experience with resource analysis of quantum algorithms.
