The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) is seeking applications for a US-based postdoctoral researcher to lead a project evaluating innovations to primary school teacher evaluation strategies in Andhra Pradesh, India. The intervention involves using technology-enhanced tools to evaluate teachers and provide targeted feedback aimed to improve teaching practices. It is currently being implemented in thousands of schools around the world. The research is a multi-arm randomized-controlled-trial of in 500 schools in Andhra Pradesh and involves the collection and compilation of comprehensive primary and administrative data on teaching practices and student outcomes. The position is located at NBER's Cambridge, MA headquarters or remote.
Position Overview:
The postdoctoral researcher will coordinate data collection efforts of the India-based research team, organize secondary data collection, and monitor implementation of the interventions. The researcher will also lead data compilation, cleaning, and data analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions. There will be opportunities to generate new projects based on the broad education data collected as part of the project.

Qualifications:
- A PhD in economics with subspecialty in development economics, economics of education, or a related field. PhD candidates who are ABD will also be considered.
- Strong quantitative analytical skills and proficiency with Stata (required).
- Experience leading field research (strongly desired).
- A demonstrated interest in development economics and the economics of education (strongly desired)
