As a Power and Performance Engineer or PnP Engineer, you will be responsible for measurement collection, results analysis, and supporting projections/estimates of Intel and competition's notebook and desktop products. This position will focus on analyzing the impact of system architectural characteristics and components, OS and software configurations on system performance and power. You will provide characterization data and analysis to internal engineering teams to set and validate performance expectations and support performance projection development. The position will start with providing data and general analysis to support projection development with a growth path to developing more sophisticated analysis and system performance projection models.

This role is for Santa Clara on-site everyday (no remote/no hybrid option).

Core responsibilities to include following:
  • Bring up test platforms, including setup, calibration, and measurements, to enable performance and power measurements.
  • Measure, analyze, and characterize system performance and power of CPU architectural characteristics, system hardware components, and OS and software changes.
  • Work with internal engineering teams to validate performance and power data and learn the use of new architectures
  • Present and publish characterization data/reports to internal engineering and projections teams to support developing performance/power models and projections.
  • Develop test plans and own data collection based on study goals and customer requests
  • Script and use the latest industry standard workloads for performance and power measurement.
  • Investigate and use new performance and power workloads.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's in Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or related field with 3+ years of experience.

OR Master's in Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or related field with 1+ years of experience.

Experience listed above should be a combination of the following:
  • Experienced with building and setting up x86 Windows based test platforms, installing and setting up operating systems
  • Experience with x86 CPU micro-architecture.
  • Experience with standard benchmarks and ability to analyze performance
  • Experience with writing scripts for task automation
  • Experience analyzing data for accuracy/trends


Preferred requirements:

  • Familiarity with industry benchmarks is a plus (ie SPEC CPU2017, UL Procyon Productivity and AI, Geekbench, WebXPRT, etc)
  • Prior experience with Intel products or other CPU products in a post-silicon engineering environment
  • Experience with MS Excel
  • Knowledge of Python scripting
  • Experience developing technical content

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US:

$104,890.00-$148,080.00

Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience.
