Objective of the Job:
The Power Distribution Automation Engineer will work with Power Distribution Personnel for construction/commissioning and all work related to power distribution for the mill.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Review SCADA, relay, DC system alarms, and troubleshoot as needed to resolve the issue(s).
2) Assist with existing equipment modifications (e.g., add PLC monitoring to phase 1 PS transformer monitoring, adding UPS units to phase 1 primary subs, adding multi-ratio CTs to phase 1 switchgears, etc.).
3) Assist with development of new isolation procedures.
4) Assist with the revising of existing isolation procedures.
5) Learn basic intermediate functions with software programs related to PD such as: Digsi4, Digsi5, SKM, AutoCAD, IBA
6) Ability to troubleshoot transformer devices (WTI, temperature gauges, PRDs, SPR relays, etc.
7) Possess SF6 breaker knowledge pertinent to good maintenance such as:
Know the safety hazards involved in working with SF6 gas.
Know the procedure for adding gas to an SF6 circuit breaker.
Know the electrical and mechanical operating principles of an SF6 circuit breaker.
Interpret electrical schematics for an SF6 circuit breaker.
Carry-out a circuit breaker inspection per manufacturers' technical manual.
Automation:
Design, implement and test Scada Software
PLC Programming and commissioning
HMI setup and programming
Electrical Design and drawings on auto cad Electrical.
Electrical installations
Siemens Step7 programming
TIA PORTAL programming
Network Systems and design
Software commissioning
Qualifications:
1) 5+ years' experience with PLC's/ HMI programming
2) Basic understanding of electrical theory
3) Proficient in Microsoft Office
4) 5+ years high voltage/ Substation experience
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
*Ability to perform the essential job function consistently safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
*Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
* Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
*Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
*This position works in all areas inside and outside which could be in hot or cold environments and varying weather conditions.
* Must have the ability to climb, lift, and carry tools and parts in an industrial environment.
*Typical hours are dayshift Monday to Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm but must have the willingness to work unscheduled days and weekends as needed for construction, commissioning, and down time.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not supervise others.
