Job Summary:

Sega of America (SOA) is seeking a Communications Manager who will drive product PR campaigns and collaborate on the earned influencer strategies for several key brands throughout North and South America. In this position you will play a critical role in crafting and telling the story of each game to players, media, and content creators. Reporting to SOA's Senior Director of Communications, the ideal candidate has a minimum of 4 years of public relations experience in the gaming industry and is passionate about games and players. This role will initially support Creative Assembly and Sports Interactive initiatives and franchises, including Total War and Football Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drive the over-arching Americas communication strategy and lead the campaign narrative for multiple game launches, while collaborating with product marketing, transmedia, studio development, and community teams.
  • Act as subject matter expert for assigned titles and represent SEGA IP to external media & influencers.
  • Arrange and attend live or virtual communications events such as hands-on presentations and media tours.
  • Be the point of contact for all endemic and non-endemic media contacts throughout NASA; work with agency partners on both NA and LATAM projects and media relations.
  • In partnership with UK based studio development and Sega West Publishing PR / Communications teams, build and execute first look, hands-on, preview, and review strategies across the West, resulting in maximum press coverage.
  • Manage US and LATAM PR agencies in activities ranging from day-to-day operations to executing break-through promotions and reporting.
  • Manage all PR assets, including ideation, approval, and publishing to achieve pre-set PR beats.
  • Outline, write, and secure approval of press releases, media advisories, newsletters, and other messaging.
  • Work closely with NASA and EMEA publishing teams to oversee earned content creator programs spanning streaming and VOD. (Depending on studio and campaign.)
  • Analyze and report earned media campaign results with a focus on quantifiable metrics utilizing PR analytics tools such as Meltwater or Level Up.
  • Working in-office is an essential function of this position. This requirement of face-to-face interaction is in place to ensure effective supervision, collaboration, and teamwork. In-office attendance is required for the following reasons:
    • For effective supervision of employees and our work product, which includes ensuring all employees have necessary oversight of their work and access to supervisory assistance, which includes meetings to review work product, deadlines, and status.
    • To foster communication and collaboration among team members, which includes the following: allowing for spontaneous brainstorming sessions and exchanges of ideas, quick access to team members to enable collaborative problem-solving, and stronger cohesion among co-workers and within teams.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:
  • 4+ years' experience in a public relations role, gaming industry experience preferred.
  • Deep knowledge & experience working on PC focused Strategy / Sports IP's
  • Experience working with key media outlets in NA & across LATAM.
  • Excellent project management and PR planning skills; experience with global coordination or planning preferred
  • Knowledge of media landscape and competitive products within the gaming industry.
  • Strong verbal, written, and reporting skills.
  • Proficient with Photoshop, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and PR measurement tools preferred.
  • Open to flexible hours while working with overseas teams.
  • Positive and professional attitude.
  • Expanded, non-media media contacts a plus.
  • Strong existing relationships with media and content creators a plus.
  • Experience utilizing first party communication tools a plus.
  • Experience working directly with development teams and studio executives is a plus.
