Position Overview

We are looking for a visionaryPractice Area Leader - Architectureto lead and grow our Roanoke architecture practice. This role requires a licensed architect with a strong background indesign leadership, business development, and team building. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing large-scale projects ($10M-$50M) and a passion for fostering a collaborative and innovative studio culture.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Business Development

  • Expand our presencein the Roanoke region by identifying new business opportunities and cultivating client relationships.
  • Develop and implementstrategies to drive growth, pursue new projects, and expand the firms market share.
  • Lead and mentora talented team of architects, providing guidance on design excellence, project management, and professional development.
  • Strengthen partnershipswith clients, consultants, and community stakeholders to reinforce Clark Nexsens reputation in the industry.

Project & Design Leadership

  • Overseelarge-scale architectural projectsranging from $10M to $50M, ensuring high-quality design and successful project execution.
  • Provideexpert guidancein architectural design, graphic modeling, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate innovative solutions into each project.
  • Ensure projects meetclient expectations, budget constraints, and regulatory requirements.

Team & Office Growth

  • Foster aculture of mentorship, collaboration, and continuous improvementwithin the Roanoke office.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent to strengthen the offices capabilities and portfolio.
  • Align team strengths with strategic growth goals to optimize productivity and impact.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Architectural license (NCARB preferred)and 10+ years of experience in architectural design and leadership.
  • Provenbusiness development skills, with a track record of securing new projects and clients.
  • Strongdesign and graphic modeling expertise(Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, etc.).
  • Experience managinglarge-scale projects ($10M-$50M)from concept to completion.
  • Excellentcommunication and leadership abilitiesto inspire and lead diverse teams.
  • Ability to engage with community stakeholders, industry partners, and business leaders.

Physical Requirements

Work is sedentary and often performed in an office setting. The work area is well lighted, heated, and ventilated. This position may require extended periods of standing, sitting, as well as some repetitive movements, bending and lifting of minimal weight. Workplace Flexibility

We have selected two common days in the office to nurture collaboration and innovation and to support learning and growth through engagement with colleagues. We are asking everyone to be present on Mondays and Thursdays, with a required third day that will provide additional flexibility and be set between you and your supervisor (with consideration given to your project team members and clients). Our hope is that this schedule will offer the work-life balance that is desired by all, while providing consistent opportunities for face-to-face collaboration and mentorship.
