Position Summary

Responsible for acting as a resource to registrants of the College, College staff, committees and the public on legislative requirements, standards of practice, policies and guidelines and their application to the practice of pharmacy. Identifying trends, practice issues, and regulatory changes related to Pharmacy Practice and developing tools or materials to assist registrants and College staff.

What You'll Do at OCP
  • Receive and respond to pharmacy practice inquiries (verbal and written) from college registrants, staff and the public
  • Continuously monitor practice queries for trends through detailed tracking of inquiries. Assist in conducting research to provide support in the development of college policies, guidelines, and practice tools to support registrant practice
  • Develop tools or materials for College registrants to enhance understanding of legislative framework and practice expectations under the Code of Ethics, Standards, Policies and Guidelines
  • Assist with drafting, and updating the College's Practice website content, as required
  • Assist with drafting and updating relevant policies, guidelines, and practice tools that support registrant practice as required
  • Support College initiatives including committees and working groups, as requested, as the subject matter expert for pharmacy practice
  • Provide practice support and on-going guidance to successfully maintain the AIMS program
  • Act as a resource and provide guidance to the staff of the College, through internal consultations and written content
  • Act as a resource and provide guidance to the Community Practice Assessment Team on legislation related to practice assessments
  • Act as a resource and provide legislative guidance to the Conduct Team with respect to complaints and intake responses
  • Review internal and external communications as the pharmacy practice subject matter expert, including but not limited to e-Connect, Pharmacy Connection articles, media responses, website content and external presentations.
  • Continually examine work process and identify opportunities for improving efficiencies and make recommendations to the Lead, PDR and Practice Consultants - Knowledge Mobilization.
  • Work within records management principles and guidelines for record keeping.
  • Other duties as assigned by Lead or Manager

  • Knowledge of issues in pharmacy practice (hospital and community)
  • Familiarity with legislative framework and practice expectations for pharmacies and registrants under the Code of Ethics, Standards, Policies and Guidelines

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Teams, Sharepoint, Excel and Outlook[DH1]


What Experience We Prefer
  • Must have 2 years of related experience in a pharmacy (Community and/or Hospital practice).
  • Minimum 3 years practice experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the health system and/or role of health regulatory bodies considered a strong asset.
  • Pharmacy management experience would be considered an asset
  • Practice experience in compounding preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD
  • Active Part A Pharmacist licensure in Ontario in good standing with the College.
