Yosemite Pathology is a private independent pathologist owned and operated surgical pathology and cytology laboratory based in Modesto, CA. YP provides comprehensive state of the art, reliable, and accurate diagnostic services to its physicians and major area hospitals in the Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Kern, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Solano, Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties.
YP offers a full spectrum of tissue pathology, cytology, and histology services, including examination of gynecologic specimens, body fluids and fine needle aspiration specimens. We also offer an extensive array of special stains and immunohistochemistry to assist in the management of oncologic and non-oncologic diseases. The laboratory is supported by highly qualified Histotechnologist, Cytotechnologist, Technicians and office staff who offer excellent service.
Summary/Objective
The Practice Manager will oversee the general administrative and operations of the Bakersfield and Visalia offices. Under general supervision, the Practice Manager is proficient in all of the functions required administrative tasks. They are directly responsible for decision making, interacting with and reporting to the Director of Administrative Services. The Practice Manager will act as a primary point of contact for administrative-related questions from all internal departments, hospitals, clients, patients and clinicians in the Bakersfield and Visalia territories, ensuring quality customer service and support to the administrative and medical staff.

Essential Functions
- Lead front office employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication
- Evaluate daily workflows and identify opportunities for improvement
- Facilitate operations and coordination of tasks impacting the pathologists
- Coordinate and communicate repair/maintenance needs to the Facilities Department
- Manage relationships with Bakersfield partners/vendors
- Maintain and order office supplies and submit invoices to Accounts Payable
- All standard front desk duties including but not limited to: answering telephones, filing, receiving deliveries, greeting guests
- Manage staff, including hiring, training, coaching, providing regular guidance and reviews, assisting with daily needs, and performing disciplinary steps as necessary
- Review and report pathologist administrative time monthly to Compliance
- Manage projects relating to improvement and efficiency initiatives for Bakersfield and Visalia locations
- Quality Assurance and hospital benchmark reporting
- Volunteering, customer service (respond to provider and patient concerns)
- Manage subpoenas for patient cases
- Be proficient in and assist with any tasks associated with direct report Pathology Coordinator/Medical Secretaries as necessary to ensure timely patient care
- Any other clerical duties as needed
Job Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business administration, or related field
- 5 years of experience in a laboratory or healthcare setting
- Proven experience within a leadership role
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent organization, attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to prepare reports and interact with staff and management
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Excel, Word
- Strong customer service and courteous phone presence
- Initiative and critical thinking; self-motivated problem solver
- Knowledge of office management procedures.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to comfortably and effectively interact with physicians, nurses and patients on a daily basis
Compensation and Benefits:
- The compensation is $70,000 - $95,000 annually (non-exempt, paid semi-monthly on an eight (8) hour per day, forty (40) hour per week. Final salary offer subject to multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, geographic location of the role, and current market data.
