The President of Originations is responsible for establishing, managing, and maintaining a profitable and highly productive consumer mortgage originations business. This position is accountable for all activities and resources involved in the consumer mortgage origination process. This position will define and oversee the sales and operational Leadership Teams ensuring teamwork and productivity. This position is responsible for the recruitment and development of a driven origination and sales team. This position will establish and maintain a competitive product mix, effective marketing plans, an efficient operational model, resource and productivity plans, and manage to an aggressive yet achievable budget, revenue and overall financial plan.

What you will do for Fay:

  • Build and manage a team responsible for originating consumer mortgages
  • Full P&L responsibilities over Fay Mortgage Services
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding ongoing production goals and budget expectations related to origination of residential mortgages
  • Provide direct or indirect leadership/management to all resources associated with the consumer mortgage origination process
  • Manage daily loan sales and operations
  • Establish productivity standards and minimums, develop and monitor reporting against standards, and manage resources to meet or exceed standards
  • Oversee mortgage lending policy adherence, and make recommendations for policy changes as necessary
  • Develop, maintain, and manage appropriate sales and operations productivity bonus and commission programs
  • Manage relationships with vendors, including contract negotiations, renewals, and cancellations
  • Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, and annual submission of the HMDA report, IRS Mortgage Interest Statements
  • Prepare and provide appropriate reporting of loan production to the senior management team
  • Monitor competitive pricing trends, and work closely with marketing to ensure all products are appropriately priced and competitive
  • Track and manage loan mix and yield analysis, including secondary market sales and purchases
  • Manage efforts required to develop and establish internal/external programs, relationships, and joint marketing agreements to drive loan production
  • Oversee the implementation of Mortgage Technology for the department
  • In collaboration with the marketing department, develop best-in-class new products and loan promotions as needed to ensure attainment of portfolio goals
  • In collaboration with the Marketing department, develop and manage campaigns to drive production volumes
  • Determine staffing levels, select department personnel, and ensure sufficient training is available for the department
  • Other tasks as assigned by the President, Financial Services

What you will bring to Fay:

  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge and extensive experience in mortgage origination and project management
  • Demonstrated leadership traits and skills (e.g., problem-solving, data/analytics, collaboration, effective presentation skills, interpersonal skills, and effective communication to all levels of the organization)
  • Extensive knowledge of operational concepts, controls, and strategies
  • Demonstrated Interpersonal and Management Skills
  • Prior experience managing a full P&L
  • Prior experience in an executive management role
  • Extensive overall experience in building out retail and wholesale/correspondent lending operations specifically in the mortgage banking vertical
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting and maintaining mortgage talent
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and change management skills
  • Strong interpersonal/human relations and collaboration skills
  • Ability to bring together multiple stakeholders and drive decisions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to include demonstrated proficiency in presenting to teams, clients, senior management, etc.
  • Training and team-building skills
  • Ability to supervise others directly or indirectly with emphasis on productivity, teamwork, and quality, whether directly or indirectly
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Able to work independently and professionally under tight deadlines

  • Extensive Business Knowledge
  • 10+ years of experience in mortgage leadership roles
  • Expert experience in mortgage operations and sales
  • Experience researching and adapting best practices to evolve business organizations
  • Experience in warehouse line management and secondary marketing
  • Experience with industry-standard tools and applications including Encompass, Velocify, Consumer Connect, or similar products
  • Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Visio, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
