Minimum Requirements
- Currently holds or is immediately eligible for Maryland State Department of Education Professional Certificate with Administrator II endorsement.
- Documented successful experience in a school administrator role.
- Has three (3) years of documented successful classroom teaching or equivalent experience.
- Has strong commitment to student achievement.
- Experience in utilizing data to facilitate and support decision-making.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills that ensure effective teambuilding.
- Demonstrated success in identifying, growing, and leveraging the potential of staff and teams.
- Ability to manage and monitor a school financial budget.
- Effectively prioritizes and responds quickly to competing demands, especially in times of crisis.
- Proficient use of various computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Google applications, and student information systems.
- Possess strong conflict resolution and verbal de-escalation skills.
- Ability to work extended workdays, including evenings and weekends, as necessary
- Must have regular and predictable attendance.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Has knowledge of the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards and MCAP assessments.
- Has familiarity with local, state, and national trends in education relevant to school programs including Maryland's Blueprint for the Future and ESSA.
- Three most recent years of work in a public school setting, particularly at the school level being applied for.
- Has the ability to effectively apply knowledge of best practices and educational research.
Role Responsibilities
- Accountable for the social/emotional and academic success of each student.
- Effectively communicate with students, teachers, parents/guardians, and members of the school community.
- Oversee the development and implementation of a vision for learning that is shared and supported by all stakeholders.
- Oversee all aspects of a school culture to promote student achievement and an effective professional learning community.
- Oversee the organization, operation, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.
- Oversee the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment for the purpose of improving instruction and student learning.
- Oversee the supervision and evaluation of staff effectiveness for high-quality teaching and learning.
- Provide leadership and support to school staff through regular classroom visits, conferences, and meetings.
- Assist with classroom management techniques, including behavioral intervention strategies.
- Hire and support effective teacher personnel.
- Ensure the success of every student by acting in an ethical manner with integrity and fairness.
- Provide staff with focused, sustained, and research-based professional development.
- Attend and contribute to professional meetings.
- Utilize a variety of data in the development of the school improvement plan.
