The Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District is seeking outstanding candidates to apply for the position of Principal for Rosemount Middle School.

District 196 is a Minnesota public school district of choice, serving more than 29,000 students and 160,000 residents in the cities of Rosemount, Apple Valley, Eagan, Burnsville, Coates, Empire, Inver Grove Heights and Lakeville, and Vermillion Township. District 196 has 19 elementary schools (grades K-5); six middle schools (grades 6-8); four high schools (grades 9-12); an optional School of Environmental Studies for juniors and seniors; an Area Learning Center high school program; a K-12 special education school, and a special education program serving young adults ages 18-2.2 The district also operates three learning centers that provide early childhood and Adult Basic Education services, and offers extensive community education programs and classes for learners of all ages.

Rosemount Middle School is a school of approximately 1,323 students. It is part of the award-winning Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Public Schools, which provides boundless opportunities and infinite possibilities for students to learn and grow. Rosemount's mission is to help students develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to enable them to be successful and productive members of a diverse, global society. Rosemount offers students a variety of academic courses that are engaging and challenging. High academic standards and an inquiry-based curriculum provide a learning environment where all students can be successful. Rosemount also offers a variety of co-curricular activities, enrichments and exploratory programs. Rosemount students and teams have won numerous awards at district, regional and state competitions. Responsibilities
The principal reports to the Director of Secondary Education and is responsible for the following: overall direction and administration of Rosemount Middle School facilities, resources, curricular and co-curricular programs including selection, supervision, development and evaluation of licensed and support staff; curriculum; budgets and capital expenditures; building policies and procedures; schedules; public relations; and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.

  • MN K-12 administrative license
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community
  • Must be an instructional leader knowledgeable in best practices for learning and instruction
  • Demonstrates an understanding of their own identity and intercultural competence
  • Leads with an equity lens to close learning and opportunity gaps and address disproportionality
  • Demonstrates ability to lead change, have courageous conversations, resolve conflicts, and a commitment to implementing data-informed decisions
  • Commitment to developing an equitable culture, systems, and practices

  • Shows effective skills in staff motivation, supervision, curriculum development, and site management

Desired Qualifications
  • Leadership experience in the field of education, especially at the middle school level
  • 5 years teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level
  • Proven successful experiences leading in a setting comprised of a diverse student population
  • Strong collaborator and communicator who demonstrates effective communication with diverse student, teacher, parent and community populations
  • A proven commitment to community service and the ability to develop community partnerships
  • Proven experience in providing meaningful recognition and support to staff and students

Director of Secondary Education

Compensation:
Salary in the range of $145,423 - $155,890 (260 days/year) based on 2023/24 salaries, depending upon qualifications, plus an excellent benefits program.
