Based on our continuing growth, and the increasing value our team is producing in partnership with our customers, we are growing our data engineering team and are looking for someone to lead this effort with us.

Position Summary:

The Director, Analytics & Data Science role is a vital contributor on the Analytics, Data Science, and Methodology team and will be responsible for leading analytic projects across the lifecycle of analytic projects. This includes opportunity identification and sizing, analytic approach and solution design, piloting and testing using "test and learn" capabilities, and scaling solutions to work across BHI's customer base.

You will be responsible for driving analytics through an understanding of the healthcare landscape, specifically for BHIs Episode of Care (EoC) grouper. EoC is used to build clinical meaningful episodes to support measuring provider performance and actionable insights for improving accessibility and performance issues related to providers for plans and members.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end analytic processes including opportunity identification and sizing, analytic solution design, piloting and prototyping, and scaling solutions across clients.
  • Partner closely with Product Strategy and Analytic Operations and Delivery to develop scalable solutions that can be leveraged across BHI's customers.
  • Analyze complex business problems and issues using data from our national data warehouse. and other data assets to provide insight to decision-makers; identifying and interpreting trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences.
  • Provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders on various data methodologies and create new and innovative approaches to presenting data and data insights.
  • Provide analytic input to data translation activities, including data mapping, analytic conceptual design, interpretation, and analytic output.
  • Execute high-quality, logical, and timely strategic analysis using a wide range of healthcare assets.
  • Build expert knowledge of BHI healthcare assets, solutions, and methodologies.
  • Take ownership of assigned project tasks in supporting the analysis/execution plan to derive trends, conclusions, and actionable recommendations for clients.
  • Provide content/subject matter expertise in data sources, data flow, study population, and analysis objectives for requirements definitions and documenting methodologies.
  • Actively participate in internal brainstorming sessions, collaborate with project team, and exercise informed business judgement in identifying the best approach to address key client needs.
  • Translate analyses into thorough and insightful conclusions, data visualizations and outputs to address client issues and succinctly deliver conclusions and key takeaways to clients via reports, presentations, and other engagement tools.
  • Demonstrate critically thinking skills to generate high-quality insights to address a wide variety of evolving business needs and create solutions using our big data asset.

Job Requirements

  • BS/MS in Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Public Health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or Statistics
  • 7+ years' experience in applying healthcare analytics to internal and/ or external clients in a consulting based role
  • Proficient knowledge and experience working with healthcare claims data
  • Extensive experience with Provider Measurements i.e Causal Inference, Bayesian Inference
    • 4+ years in the healthcare payer industry preferred
    • Demonstrated people management skills
    • Hands on development experience in data manipulation and analysis with SQL and Python
    • Hands on development experience in data visualization with tools such as Tableau
    • Strong presentation skills
    • Experience extracting and manipulating data sets of varying sizes from data lakes and warehouses
  • Experience in delivering successful, profitable, repeatable, referenced analytic solutions
  • Ability to derive insights and inferred business implications from data
  • Ability to translate business request into a value-added business solution
  • Guide stakeholders in understanding business value of the initiative
  • Managed multiple engagements while planning and allocating resources accordingly
  • Strong planning, coordination, analytical and communication skills
  • Is familiar with SOC2 compliance and its impact on company policies and processes
