Responsibilities

As a member of the Corporate Finance team at General Dynamics Corporate Headquarters (CHQ) in Reston, Virginia, you will provide integral financial analysis and support including support of M&A, capital structure and deployment activities, and pension strategy. In this role you will work closely with leaders at CHQ and across the company on a global scale gaining experience and insight into the diverse products and services General Dynamics provides to our customers. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent attention to detail who will thrive in a highly visible and fast-paced environment. As the Principal, Corporate Finance, you will:
  • Apply financial analysis, business experience and market knowledge to assess and execute corporate finance transactions
  • Assist business partners in evaluating potential acquisition and divestiture targets, preparing valuations, executing due diligence, and negotiating purchase agreements
  • Support capital structure analysis and decision-making for an A-rated company with approximately $9 billion of debt
  • Analyze capital market trends and industry peers' capital deployment strategies and their impact on financial results
  • Support the development of investment strategy for pension funds in excess of $10 billion
  • Prepare analyses and presentations on various financial topics for senior executives and the board of directors
  • Other duties as required


Qualifications

Education & Training Requirements:
  • BS/BA degree in Finance or Accounting or the equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job
  • Master's degree and/or CFA or CPA certifications beneficial

Experience Requirements:
  • M&A and valuations experience highly preferred
  • Minimum of six years of work experience in relevant finance or corporate development function. However, the six-year requirement may be reduced for specific work experience and/or relevant degrees and certifications

Other Requirements:
  • Be a team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at corporate headquarters and the business units
  • Possess a mature professional attitude and demeanor and have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to work within a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Prioritize outstanding performance and have an attitude of continuous improvement
  • Possess excellent attention to detail an dwillingness to do what it takes to get the job done
  • Be fully proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated by start date unless medical or religious exceptions apply
  • Must be willing to work in the CHQ office Monday through Friday during regular business hours
  • Minimal travel required
