The Windows Store team is creating meaningful customer experiences by using innovative methodologies to gain insights from data to tell stories which influence and shape products. The team is hiring a Principal Data Engineering Lead to make an impact on how customers experience Microsoft Store on Windows and to help achieve Microsoft's broader mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.

As a Principal Data Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for structuring an efficient Data & Analytics Rhythm of business, collaborating with multiple teams to define roles, cadence, and appropriate stakeholders' participation. You will orchestrate teams to facilitate the gathering of insights and support data-driven analysis to drive outcomes and insights within the Data & Analytics organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, train and mentor a team with a focus on fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Work collaboratively withcross-functional teams,defining,aligningand bringing clarity oftherole ofData & Analytics team, ensuring the right stakeholders are engaged at theappropriate cadence.
  • Create an efficientdata platform to understand the customer journey using reliable data.
  • Evaluate the progressofpipeline creationand conversion from uncommitted to committed and lead technical initiativesaiming forenhanced performance.
  • Implement robust tracking and reporting mechanisms tomonitorthe performance ofData &Analytics programs and initiatives.Usedata-driven insights to refine and influence store teams' strategies and courses of action.
  • Provideend to endvisibility into thehealth oftheData and Analyticsbusinessand flag early, concerningsignalsonanongoing basis.
  • Establish an internaloperationalrhythm within the Data & Analytics team to enhance execution, drive outcomes, andusedata-driven analysis for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with engineer, PM, Merch teams to augment insights, adjustas neededandcontribute toshaping the overall strategy.
  • Proactivelyprovideactionable insight and key learnings to leadershipleveragingdata, market trend, field feedback, and other available signals and recommend potential solutions to resolve the challenges.


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years experience architecting, designing, and operating large-scale big data services with dev-ops model.
  • Experience implementing and shipping production quality Data pipelines.
  • Experience using analytics tools such as Power BI or Adobe Analytics to derive data insights and using the Azure ecosystem (i.e. Azure Data Lake) or similar technologies to create a robust data platform.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in operations leadership, data analytics, and project management.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and generate actionable insights.
  • Long term strategic thinking and strong problem-solving skill.
  • Experience in managing budgets and resources.
  • Leadership experience to foster a culture of innovation and high performance.
Data Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
