SAIC is seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented, and hands on Data Scientist to support our CBP customer. This will be a remote position, but will require occasional attendance onsite at our Ashburn, VA or Kingstowne, Virginia offices.

SAIC is seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented, and hands on Data Scientist to support our CBP customer. This will be a remote position, but will require occasional attendance onsite at our Ashburn, VA or Kingstowne, Virginia offices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze large data sets from complex data models including relational databases
- Define acceptance criteria including setting algorithm thresholds based on statistical analysis
- Develop and identify approaches for predictive models
- Define and set standards for performing data analysis
- Interface with clients, project management, stake holders, and development teams
- Consolidate information into reports or UI dashboards
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Computational Statistics, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in data science techniques - including data analysis, statistical analysis, programming, modeling, machine learning, and deep learning
- Strong programming skills including SQL, python, other related languages, and data mining tools
- Strong background in math and statistics
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Bachelor's degree and nine (9) years or more experience; Master's degree and seven (7) years or more experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience
- Knowledge working with Unix/Linux
- Experience with C# or similar programming language
- Advanced learning techniques - information retrieval, modeling, and entity resolution
- Knowledge of a variety of data formats such as XML, JSON, and various image formats
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Experience working with DHS, Customs and Border Protection, or travel related data
- Master's Degree in a related field
- US Citizenship Required
- Ability to obtain and hold a public trust position and favorable suitability based on a CBP Background Investigation
- Location - Telework with on-site visits if a mission need. Candidates must be within the GWA/commutable area
