West Monroe is seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal to join our Energy & Utilities practice, with a focus on Distributed Energy Resource Systems (DERMS). This role is pivotal in driving thought leadership, strategic development, and implementation of DERMS solutions for our clients. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of both the utility business and the technical intricacies of DERMS, alongside a proven track record in delivering consulting projects and supporting business development.

Based on pay transparency guidelines, the salary range for this role can vary based on your proximity to one of our West Monroe offices (see table below). Information on our competitive total rewards package, including our bonus structure and benefits is here. Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan, purchase shares from our employee stock ownership program and be eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees will also receive unlimited flexible time off and ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Ten weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use after successful completion of one year of employment.

West Monroe is seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal to join our Energy & Utilities practice, with a focus on Distributed Energy Resource Systems (DERMS). This role is pivotal in driving thought leadership, strategic development, and implementation of DERMS solutions for our clients. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of both the utility business and the technical intricacies of DERMS, alongside a proven track record in delivering consulting projects and supporting business development.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Delivery
- Proven experience developing and leading DERMS consulting projects-e.g., strategy development, cost-benefit analysis, requirements development, vendor selection, project planning, and implementation
- Requisite knowledge in grid + customer DERMS domains-e.g., capabilities, vendor ecosystem and their roadmaps, target integrations, utility-specific DERMS needs
- Strong focus on client satisfaction, project management, and thought leadership
- Ability to provide functional and technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycles as a specialist
Leading Consulting Projects:
- Manage small to medium-sized consulting projects, delivering high-quality outcomes for clients.
- Foster strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and accountable for delivery excellence
- Support larger consulting projects as a subject matter specialist
Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of consultants, fostering professional growth and development
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive team environment
Thought Leadership:
- Serve as a thought leader in Distributed Energy Resources (DER), influencing industry standards and practices
- Develop and disseminate insights on DERMS through publications, presentations, and industry events
Business Development:
- Partner with WM leaders to identify and pursue new business opportunities within the DERMS domain
- Support proposal development and business development initiatives to expand West Monroe's footprint in the DERMS space
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the energy utilities sector with a focus on DERMS
- Proven experience in developing DERMS strategies and leading vendor selection processes
- Demonstrated success in planning/implementing DERMS solutions in a utility context
- Strong understanding of utility business models and technical aspects of DERMS
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
