Lake County Public Works is a sewer and water provider to 40% of Lake County residents and owns, operates, and maintains more than 750 miles of pipe, three water reclamation facilities, more than 100 pump stations, an excess flow facility and a 1-mile-long levee. This Public Works position is to oversee the Department's annual and long-term capital improvement program.

This Public Works position is to oversee the Department's annual and long-term capital improvement program.
Essential Functions
- Coordinate timelines and deadlines, as well as managing consultant relationships and contracts.
- Oversee the permitting process for the department.
- Track procurement process compliance, conduct budgetary oversight, create County Board agenda items, and log financial assets.
- Manage design and construction of Department projects.
- Coordinate field inspection and construction management oversight of projects.
- Align resources with projects and ensure consistent application of standards and processes.
- Investigate, review, plan and design construction and maintenance of various aspects of Public Works infrastructure improvements.
- Gather, organize, and analyze data or information related to assigned projects.
- Organize project documentation, schedule, and conduct meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required
- Requires strong communication skills.
- Requires thorough knowledge of civil engineering principles.
- Requires over 4 years of related experience in professional engineering design and construction administration, as is knowledge of public water supplies, sanitary sewer systems and/or water reclamation facilities.
- Requires comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering related to the preparation of plans and specifications for a wide variety of projects.
- Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, construction or municipal engineering.
- Requires a certificate as a Registered Professional Engineer issued by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Performs light to medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, stretching, or lifting.
