Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Information Systems Project Manager - Obsolescence/Sustainment Engineer (25-149) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position, located in Colorado Springs, CO, plays a crucial role in our mission to support the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier globally and regionally. Networks integrate and synchronize autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

As the Obsolescence Sustainment Engineer, you will be directly responsible for implementing and continuously improving the end-of-sale/end-of-life (EOS-EOL) program on the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) Operations, Maintenance, and Sustainment (OM&S) Task Order.

Essential Functions:
  • Must be able to conduct analyses of the hardware and software in use throughout the enterprise to track, identify, and research sale and/or end-of-life conditions, then develop and present creative and thorough solutions to mitigate or resolve obsolescence
  • Frequent contact with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and cross-functional product teams is required
  • These potential courses of action are presented to management, task order leadership, and the government customer for approval
  • The selected candidate will coordinate with impacted product teams to ensure understanding and full implementation of approved courses of action to resolve obsolescence conditions
  • Frequent coordination and support of other members of the Sustainment Product Team is required
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as needed.
  • Moderate to advanced Excel abilities, able to use spreadsheets, tables, graphs/plots, and build new or edit existing calculations and formulas to analyze and process large quantities of data efficiently
  • Moderate knowledge of PowerPoint - Able to create, edit, format, and brief via PowerPoint
  • Experience working in databases and other sustainment tools
  • Proficient in reading and utilizing engineering drawings
  • Ability to brief complex technical issues and associated solutions to Task Order leadership and the DOD customer
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills and the ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Project Management, or Mathematics discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience or a Master's degree in a related discipline and 3 years of experience, or 9 years of related experience may be considered
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs
  • Must possess product/system sustainment, logistics, acquisition, product lifecycle, and/or product deployment experience
  • Must be a self-starter with experience working with cross-functional product teams supporting a geographically diverse program
  • Experience supporting a government and/or DoD customer
  • Understanding of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and sustainment concepts
  • Thorough understanding of Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product lifecycle
  • Working knowledge of lifecycle sustainment strategies
  • Experience with project management
  • Exposure to the Agile framework and various levels of the development lifecycle (Engineering, Development, Test, Installation, and Deployment)
  • Formal or informal knowledge of Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) and experience researching hardware and software obsolescence
  • Familiarity with document automation via common Windows scripting languages like:
    • Python
    • PowerShell
    • Visual Basic, etc.

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
