The K-8 Principal salary is highly competitive and is based on experience and qualifications (median salary is $117,112 annually)

Job Summary:
As the instructional leader, the Principal is responsible for increasing student achievement at the assigned school by developing and implementing a standards-based instructional program aligned to curriculum and by managing school site operations and personnel in accordance with Board of Education policies. Promote strong relations and partnerships among school, parents, students, community, and stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Implement a standards-based instructional program aligned to curriculum.
  • Evaluate, appraise, mentor, monitor, and provide feedback to licensed staff to support planning and personnel, instruction, engagement, and assessment. Provide leadership for the professional growth of the staff through in-service programs, goal development and monitoring, and recommendation and support of educational/training opportunities.
  • Analyze student achievement through assessment data, make recommendations for maintenance and/or improvement, and communicate changes with stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development and administration of guidelines and procedures for student achievement, growth, special recognition, and Response to Intervention (RTI).
  • Respond to parent, student, stakeholder, and community concerns/questions and promote positive public relations. Encourage school/parent/student/community partnerships in providing for the educational needs of the student.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff at all times, including overseeing the development and implementation of crisis prevention and procedures; overseeing the physical plant and grounds; overseeing the planning and implementation of fire and disaster drills and other emergency procedures.
  • Actively participate in professional organizations, committees, and professional development opportunities.
  • Interview and hire licensed and educational support personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:
  • Have or is eligible for a Colorado Principal License.
  • A minimum of two years experience as an Assistant Principal (preferably at the secondary level).
  • Advanced oral and written communication, English language, interpersonal relations, customer service, public relations, critical thinking, problem solving, organizational, and supervisory/management skills.
  • Basic math and accounting skills.
  • Strong personal computer, keyboarding, and word processing skills.
  • Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of job.
  • Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education, Superintendent, building, and department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
  • Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
