GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for providing educational leadership, building management, community out-reach, staff evaluation, professional development, school budget, inventory control analysis and communication of state and federal mandates, test analysis as well as safety and security for assigned school.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Significant knowledge with federal and state laws governing the education of all students and students with disabilities. Exceptional verbal, written, and technical communication skills. Familiarity and proficiency using and managing Microsoft office products (i.e., word, excel, outlook, email, database, etc.). Exceptional organizational skills and time management skills. Excellent diplomacy skills in managing difficult situations. Significant analytical and interpretive skills with regard to educational law governing student with disabilities. Excellent knowledge of the processes related to effective teaching and learning. Strong supervisory and decision-making skills. Ability to manage crises situations effectively. Consistent and regular attendance is an essential duty of this position.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement in supervision and administration.
At least five years of successful experience, three years at a supervisory level with preference given to experience at the elementary level.
Preferred: Doctorate in Administration/Supervision. Management of instruction in relation to Virginia's Standard of Learning program.

- Implements curriculum and establishes educational objectives consistent with division goals;
- Evaluates grading policies and student progress with members of the staff;
- Coordinates the use of subject matter specialists, resource teachers, and other resource personnel;
- Assures that teachers are assigned to areas in which they are endorsed or that teachers are making required progress toward this endorsement in accordance with Board policy;
- Visits the classrooms in the individual school to observe the instructional methods, materials, and procedures used by teachers under his/her supervision, and to assist teachers in improving instruction;
- Works with staff in developing goals and provides opportunity for participation;
- Assists teachers in planning field trips and using community resources;
- Communicates and interprets Division policies, procedures and regulations;
- Provides feedback and support to teachers and other staff members on personal and professional needs;
- Establishes an effective communications program which includes opportunities for staff involvement, committees, individual conferences, internal communication procedures;
- Evaluates and/or supervises the evaluation of all personnel in the individual school;
- Monitors staff attendance and takes corrective measures if necessary;
- Confers with and assists teachers with problems of instruction and student discipline;
- Coordinates and supervises student affairs including after school activities;
- Coordinates services to students such as guidance, health, special education;
- Participates in required training and develops professional goals;
- Responsible for keeping all records for the school and promptly submitting all reports as required;
- Attend and participate in grade department meetings;
- Oversee school accreditation process;
- Support motivational and academic programs;
- Oversee Teacher Accreditation and License Renewal;
- Plan and support staff appreciation efforts;
- Serve on District level committees;
- Plan academic remediation programs;
- Responsible for the supervision of students during school day, while being transported to and from school, while going on school trips, and during any activity or function sponsored by the school;
- Assures that necessary documentation regarding resignations and recommendations for hiring, non-renewals, etc. are processed in accordance with Board policy/division procedures;
- Develops and monitors the school budget;
- Monitors expenditures and ensures good fiscal management of school-based funds as appropriated by the School Board;
- Is responsible for the general supervision and appearance of the grounds and buildings;
- Supervises the use of the school and grounds by all agencies;
- Communicates with parents by means of school programs, letters, telephone and personal contact;
- Participates in the activities of the Parent\Teacher Organization and Parent\Teacher Advisory Board Involves parent and community groups in operation of school;
- Reviews and approves school fund-raising requests.
- Responsible for the daily operation of the individual school and the safety and welfare of the students and employees;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with the school division's policies and practices.
