Role Summary
The Analytical Development Bioassay Scientist will be responsible for leading the technical strategy and development of cell-based potency assays to support the product development activities at Apogee's Boston-based lab. This individual will be an important member of the TechOps team, responsible for overseeing/participating in the assay development and sample testing strategies for various clinical and pre-clinical stage products in Apogee's portfolio. The individual will also serve as a technical subject matter expert for all cell-based assays supporting product release and stability testing. This role is a lab-based role, and the candidate is expected to be on-site at Apogee's Boston / Seaport lab. This role will report to the Vice President of Bioanalytical Development.

Ideal Candidate
The anticipated salary range for candidates for this role will be $185,000 - $200,000 / year. The final salary offered will depend on several factors, which may include, but is not limited to relevant years of experience, educational background, and geography.

Role Summary

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead strategies for cell-based potency assays supporting product development, including QC release and stability testing
- Lead the development of cell-based bioassays suitable for qualification and/or validation
- Oversee the assay transfer and qualification/validation at external GMP / QC testing labs
- Establish robust bioassay/potency testing capabilities in-house (non-GMP)
- Supervise and perform potency testing of Apogee's monoclonal antibody preclinical and clinical candidates to support development activities including biological characterization, comparability studies, formulation development and structure / function assessment
- Supervise and mentor a small team to achieve development objectives
- Interpret bioassay data, troubleshoot assays and take part in lab investigations as needed
- Author study protocols and reports
- Serve as a subject matter expert for QC cell-based potency testing
- Work closely with Manufacturing & Development partners within Apogee's Technical Operations development, as well as external stakeholders, to execute bioassay/potency testing activities according to program needs
Ideal Candidate
- Advanced degree, preferably a PhD, or equivalent experience, in a relevant discipline (e.g., cell biology, or related field)
- A minimum of 8 years of experience developing cell-based bioassays used to quantitatively test the potency of complex biological molecules
- Ability to work full time on-site at Apogee's Boston-based laboratory with minimal direct supervision
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to collaborate effectively across functional lines
- Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-moving organization
- Availability to participate in calls across multiple international time zones

- Ability and willingness to travel up to eight times a year
