The Oncology Translational Science group within the Translational Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology Department is seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist to lead the Molecular Genomics Laboratory. The Molecular Genomics Laboratory uses innovative sequencing technologies, to aid in the discovery of DNA, RNA, and epigenetic patient selection and pharmacodynamic biomarkers for advancing oncology discovery research programs. The selected candidate will contribute to the identification of novel biomarkers and the characterization of the mode of action of immuno-oncology therapies using their scientific and technical expertise.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Profile drug candidates to identify pharmacodynamic biomarkers in disease models of human cancer and effectively communicate results across the Global Research organization.
  • Provide clear direction to molecular genomics laboratory scientists to ensure efficient execution of tasks and provide high-quality data to support Oncology portfolio.
  • Serve as a biomarker representative, who is accountable and responsible for the design and execution of preclinical translational strategies for IO portfolio assets.
  • Share innovative ideas and scientific perspectives with Oncology Translational Science colleagues to assist in understanding the translational aspects of IO portfolio assets.
  • Identify external opportunities with CROs to evaluate new technologies or techniques.
  • Recruit, supervise, mentor/coach, develop and evaluate scientific staff.


Requirements

  • Ph.D. from an accredited institution, or equivalent, with five-plus (5+) years of experience in a related field or equivalent (eg. Cancer Genomics, Cancer Immunology, Cancer Biology, or Immunology).
  • Industry experience is highly desired.
  • Proven expertise in NGS workflows for various techniques like bulk-RNA sequencing, single-cell multi-omic analysis and spatial transcriptomics.
  • Scientific expertise in the field of cancer biology and/or cancer immunology is required.
  • Familiarity with programming languages (eg. Python) is a plus.
  • Prior experience in designing biomarker strategies is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to plan, organize, troubleshoot, interpret, and present work independently and to show team leadership.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven track record of scientific publications and presentations in the Oncology field.


Compensation:

This position, Principal Scientist, offers a base salary typically between $140,000.00 and $222,000.00. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
