The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

We are seeking an experienced principal software engineer to join teams working on Olympus, a modernized web application built with Typescript, React.js, GraphQL and AWS. We aim to provide a streamlined user experience that empowers sales agents in DRC to acquire new customers more efficiently. (We are part of Distribution Tech - I buy I sell insurance professional portfolio.)

In this role, you will participate in every stage of the software development lifecycle from ideation to production, collaborating closely with engineering, product, design, stakeholders and other cross functional members. You are also encouraged to leverage dedicated innovation sprint to explore new technology. Responsibilities:
  • Deliver features and functionality on the backlog with a strong emphasis on quality, security and scalability.
  • Partner with cross functional members to help influence and shape the product roadmap.
  • Lead research and proof-of-concept initiatives to develop creative solutions for complex challenges.
  • Drive improvement in Agile practices within self-organized team and share ownership of Agile ceremonies with all team members.
  • Mentor/Coach other engineers to foster their growth and development.
  • Participate in cross portfolio/domain chapters and initiatives to share knowledge and promote continuous learning.
  • Provide production support as needed.
  • Stay connected with latest technology advancement by leveraging dedicated innovation time.


Qualifications

  • Expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js , GraphQL and AWS, with proven experience building and maintaining user facing applications. Any knowledge about micro-frontend, GraphQL federation and websocket is a plus but not required.
  • 5+ years' experience delivering highly available enterprise grade applications, including a strong focus on security, monitoring, observability and production support.
  • Proficient in cloud-native development, including containers (Docker), orchestration tools (Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipeline.
  • Skilled in utilizing tools such as Splunk and Datadog to extract insights and troubleshoot issues.
  • Experience working in Agile teams with a solid understanding of how to use agile metrics to inform areas of improvement.
  • Excellent analytical skills as well as communication skills both verbal and written. Able to explain complicated technical concepts clearly to audience of different background.
