Principal Systems Engineer

Location: Englewood, CO - Able to work hybrid once acclimated - 2 days/3days onsite flex

Important Skills:
  • Healthcare experience is required, including HIPAA, EPIC, and PACS
  • Technologies they will be touching are: Cisco MDS (needed for their EPIC environment), Brocade - refers to Ethernet switches supporting their NetApp clusters, Pure, IBM, Client, EMC, NetApp
  • They are moving towards Pure Storage - but they have a dual storage strategy with NetApp and Pure.
  • Legacy Centura environment exists, but they have adopted Dell computers as a standard
  • Backup technology is Cohesity and they use Azure Cloud with a small Google Cloud presence.
  • Resource needs to be a generalist across multiple disciplines around Data Center.

Responsibilities
  • Develops organizational policies, standards, and guidelines for methods and tools. Sets direction and leads in the introduction and use of techniques, methodologies and tools, to match overall business requirements, ensuring consistency across all user groups.
  • Leads the development of organizational capabilities for methods and tools (including automation) to ensure adoption and adherence to policies, standards and processes.
  • Experience building new environments for an internal enterprise application in a large scale environment covering engineering and architecture disciplines.
  • Sets the release policy for the organization in the context of both development and production/operations. Ensures that management processes, tools, techniques and resources (including automation) are in place to ensure that the transition of services, service components and packages are planned and compliant and that test and validation and configuration management are partnered in all release and deployment activities. Provides authorization for critical release activity and point of escalation.
  • Maintain primary responsibility for strategic planning, technical roadmap development,capacity planning, budget forecasting, standards and architecture.
  • Oversees efforts with key vendors to understand future application product plans in conjunction with IT leadership.
  • Perform project resourcing, oversight and management.
  • In conjunction with the Director and/or Manager, coaches the team on personal development and develops training strategies and schedules.
  • Initiates methods and approaches to meet defined business objectives. Resolves subtle complexities that often have significant implications for a program's overall success.
  • Must have strong skills related to Tier 1 and 2 storage technologies from EMC, Client, IBM,Pure and Netapp. Knowledge of Brocade and Cisco fiber channel technologies is mandatory. This position will be part of a team that will provide operational support as well as participate in some project activities.
  • Identify automation opportunities and implement scripted solutions.
  • Serves as an escalation point for complex requests and issues.
  • Provide overall ownership of the Change Management process for the System Engineer team.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to end users, Business Stakeholders and other members of the organization.
  • ct as primary conduit to oversee support efforts between System Engineering and other teams, and provide escalation and resolution functions when necessary.
  • Schedule and manage all performance tuning and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Review, recommend and monitor the source code/versioning management function adhering to technical management guidelines.
  • Provide overall technical ownership for all support and project issues and responsibilities within the System Engineering teams.
  • Design, implement and maintain a comprehensive monitoring and alerting process across all Technology Infrastructure platforms.
  • Utilize standard tools and methodology to develop systems and support performance metrics.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge & expertise with Client business processes and routines.
  • Perform crisis management during high-severity operational incidents.
  • Perform meeting facilitation for staff, operational support and project meetings. Act as the primary lead.
  • Complete assignments as required by the Director / Manager and work effectively with all levels of leadership.
  • May require on-call coverage responsibilities.
  • Remote eligible.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • BA or BS in Computer Science, Technology, or Business discipline or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional IT experience in an IT technical or infrastructure field is required, with healthcare industry experience strongly desired.
  • 8+ years Storage experience (Netapp/Pure/EMC) is required.
  • 8+ years of FC switching experience (Brocade/Cisco) and block based storage protocols (FC,ISCSI)
  • 8+ years experience with NAS protocols (NFS/SMB) and configuration
  • 5+ years experience with large complex environments is required.
  • 5+ years of experience leading a team.
  • 3+ years of experience with VMware required
  • 3+ years of experience with Ansible playbooks/roles, REST/API, JSON , Powershell
  • Working knowledge of the Nasuni platform and Komprise solution.
  • Working knowledge of Azure Blob storage and GCP storage buckets
