The HR Experience and Technology team is looking for a talented Principal Technical Program Manager to create massive scale and new solutions that our customers need to be successful. You will be responsible to drive the Line HR experiences worldwide and transform the way HR services are delivered across PXT. As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you will work across projects with multiple teams, as well as help with establishing your team's processes sustaining multiple parallel projects. A successful Principal Technical Program Manager should be highly autonomous with strong problem-solving skills. They should have the ability to analyze quantitatively, scope technical requirements, and effectively execute to deliver the best customer experience. You would also visit Amazon Ops sites, interact with HR professionals and employees, and influence product development. Key job responsibilities
- Define business and technical requirements with internal teams.
- Clarify ambiguities, define delivery scope, timeline, roadmap, and milestones clearly and properly.
- Estimate project impact and delivery effort. Make appropriate trade-offs to optimize return-on-investment and make the best use of resources.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., business leaders, engineering, security and compliance, privacy, operations, product management, etc.). Manage the delivery timeline and drive the development progress.
- Communicate project status to a broad audience including senior management.
- Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and roadblocks. Initiate technical deep dives and/or organize working sessions to solve problems and mitigate risks.
- Develop and promote best practices.
- Drive engineering operational excellence best practice and metrics.
A day in the life
- Work closely with technical leaders and product managers to compose and influence the product vision, roadmap, org goals, planning, and backlog prioritization
- Lead high-visibility, cross-team initiatives including scoping, requirement gathering, technical design, implementation, and launch phases. This includes evaluating and recommending technical solutions to meet customer requirements, ensuring long-term scalability, and meeting project timelines
- Identify system and process deficiencies and lead the charge to drive meaningful change. This includes writing effective narratives and presenting them to Directors and VP's
- Engage with partner teams to proactively identify integration points within HR support products like HRSC.
- Be a technical problem solver on the team, identifying innovative solutions to project deadlocks and resolving issues and constraints through consensus and sound judgment
- Help teams reduce exposure to classic failure modes (e.g. requirements not sufficiently understood/documented, ineffective cross-team collaboration, inadequate system design, insufficient testing/gaps in QA, etc.)
- Demonstrate strong program management, organizational, and leadership skills to facilitate effective, collaborative project meetings
- Collaborate with some of the best engineers in the industry
- Contribute to delivering highly available, performant, and secure microservices at Amazon scale

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of engineering experience
- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
