The EHR Principal Trainer is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the Epic training environment, training materials and methods for clinical and non-clinical end users. Training is typically conducted in the classroom as well as in the practice. The Principal Trainer typically supports an assigned application(s) and is responsible for achieving an in-depth understanding of the software, policies and procedures, and workflow for each application module that they are certified in.

This would be an onsite position based in Stamford, CT.

Responsibilities

  • Translates the functionality of system configuration and workflow validations into a training environment development, easy to understand classroom presentations, and prepare and manage requirements for training sessions in collaboration with the project team.
  • Administers a proficiency assessment and class evaluation at the end of each session, and forward ideas to improve the effectiveness of the training to the Principal Trainer Team Lead. Responsible for quality control.
  • Collaborates at all levels of organization to deliver customized curriculum and coaching to employees. Leads discussions regarding building, testing, and maintaining the training environment, as well as the development and maintenance of training materials for the training program.
  • Provides training for new hires, and coordinates training for new software releases and updates. Maintains policies/procedures documentation as it relates to Epic training. May trains additional trainers as well.
  • Develops and implements credentialed training programs and materials to support users of applications and clinical information systems. Develop and maintain the master training environment for primary application suites supported.
  • Participates actively in routine meetings with department heads and/or superusers to identify, document, and prioritize their needs.
  • Assists with go-live and support schedules as well as the coordination of field support activities and provides go-live and rollout support on new applications, modules, and functionality.
  • Maintain a favorable work environment for all team members and clients.
  • Responsible for IS change control standards and procedures including successful release and communication of go lives.
  • Provides status reports and insights to departmental leadership in ad-hoc and weekly meetings.
  • Conduct and manage special projects as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested in order to maintain a high level of service.


  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of previous work-related experience.
  • Software Module Certification or obtained within six (6) months of employment.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, written and verbal communications skills. Strong customer service skills. Demonstrated understanding of principles of effective adult learning and teaching strategies.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication and instructional skills.
  • Ability to articulate, promote and reinforce institutional policies and procedures impacted by EHR implementation.
  • Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.
  • Must be able to deliver various types of instructional materials, such as synchronous learning, pre and post course assessments and performance support literature.
