Principal Undersea Signal Processing System Architect
Apply NowCompany: STR
Location: Woburn, MA 01801
Description:
About the Team:
The Undersea Systems and Acoustics (USA) Group in the STR Sensors Division develops and delivers advanced undersea sensor and signal processing systems centered around intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and counter-ISR. Our applications range from detection and classification problems to acoustic warfare and protection analogous to electronic warfare. Our systems range from advanced algorithms leveraging high performance computing to low size, weight, and power (SWAP) distributed uncrewed systems supporting real-time embedded processing. Using modeling and simulation, experimental campaigns, and prototyping coupled with testing that progresses through bench-top, tank, lake, and at-sea demonstrations, we mature innovative concepts into prototypes and fielded systems to address critical defense needs with agility, persistence, and scale.
The Role:
The primary role of this position is architecting distributed, uncrewed, undersea acoustic signal processing systems which necessarily must consider the inter-related system concepts, algorithms, hardware implementations, and electronic system and sub-system designs to achieve mission objectives. Key system attributes may include low-latency, high fractional bandwidth, and tight inter-node synchronization, depending on each specific application.
Given the research nature of our advanced prototyping, the ideal candidate would be multi-disciplinary and have a working knowledge of all the technology required to architect a real-time signal processing system ( real-time processing hardware, interfaces, firmware, software, sensors, data acquisition, physics, etc.) in order to steer a team of other experts (MEs, EEs, etc.) to realize the system concepts and achieve mission goals.
What you will do:
Who you are:
STR is a growing technology company with locations near Boston, MA, Arlington, VA, near Dayton, OH, Melbourne, FL, and Carlsbad, CA.
