Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • This role is responsible for providing technical support and expertise to our EDM/CNC machining operations
  • You will collaborate with operation/maintenance/quality teams to optimize current machining processes, troubleshoot issues, and develop new machining applications.
  • You will be a key player in driving continuous improvement and helping drive safety, quality, delivery and productivity goals
  • Collaborate with operation & maintenance teams to support current production parts, in terms of providing technical ownership and leadership in EDM cells, qualifying, troubleshooting the machines and providing required documents
  • Develop process parameters for new parts introduced to production
  • Analyze machine performance data and identify areas for processes and products improvement
  • Optimize toolpaths and Drilling parameters for efficient and high-quality machining
  • Responsible for project planning, creating budgets, cost savings, and Return on Investment to ensure you meet Annual Operating Plans. Commits to deliverables and is accountable for executing projects on-time and within budget.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve company goals
  • Establish critical to quality process parameters and work with manufacturing to define process controls ensuring EDM processes operate at optimum performance
  • Evaluate new tool capabilities and modify existing tool for new product processing to meet customer requirements
  • Responsible for developing and establish process capability and process control, repeatability, and stability through SPC, engineering controls, and other effective process management methods.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Silfex Quality Management System and properly apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures.

  • Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S. Demonstrate ownership of continuous improvement ideas and activities. Maintain organization and cleanliness, housekeeping and 5S within work area. Maintain these areas at the highest degree possible while responsibly escalating any maintenance issues.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily through knowledge, skill, and/or ability.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 8 years of related experience or a master's degree with 6 years of related experience.
  • Experience problem solving a complex system with a cross functional team.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis (JMP, Minitab) and problem-solving methodologies.
  • In-depth understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Experience developing control plans and procedures.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledgeable of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance tools and methods utilized for manufacturing processes (DMAIC, 8D, GRR, etc.)
  • Experience working in a collaborative and matrixed environment with diverse teams, semiconductor customers, and/or partners.
  • Able to demonstrate analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Experience with machining silicon or other hard brittle materials is a plus.

Employee is required to meet all PPE requirements as outlined in Silfex procedures.
