Job Title: Process Engineer

Job Summary:

The Process Engineer will support the engineering department and aid in the development of cost reduction strategies, efficiencies, and waste elimination in the production process. They will support and maintain production lines to maximize effectiveness, efficiency, and space. The Process Engineer will also make sure the facility complies with all industry standards for safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement production processes that maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Communicate and address production variances, quality issues and concerns with relevant departments to help identify the causes and implement sustainable corrective action.
  • Facilitate in the diagnosis and resolution of issues pertaining to production equipment, ensuring smooth operational flow and minimal downtime.
  • Execute the layout of production lines and determine personnel requirements.
  • Direct and facilitate the lean improvement process through the use of 5'S, TPM, Kanban.
  • Recommend methods for improving utilization of material, and utilities.
  • Establish and maintain work standards for product costing and productivity measurement.
  • Develop improvements to enhance process reliability, maintainability and scalability.
  • Enact quality control procedures to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and/or minimize costs.
  • Maintain physical equipment layout maximizing efficiencies and support process layout planning.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives leading teams to identify sources of waste and implement changes.
  • Work with production, maintenance, and management departments to optimize existing processes and to develop processes for new programs.
  • Ensure documentation is complete including operating, process, maintenance and supporting quotes as required.
  • Other core expectations as defined by the company


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field required
  • Health and Safety and HACCP Certification preferred
  • Production or Manufacturing environment experience preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); CAD or AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP
  • Strong knowledge of legislative requirements needed maintain compliance to all relevant statues and guiding principles in the food production and distribution industries
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Excellent project management, analytical, time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral & written); must be able to present information both verbally and in writing
  • Commitment to high professional and ethical standards


Work Environment:

  • Hours of work may vary depending on business needs
  • This job operates in a clerical, office setting. Moderate work in a refrigerated warehouse, where temperatures range. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to packaging machinery, and forklift truck operation.
  • Role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Specific vision capabilities required; employee is to work in front of a computer, sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods is required.
  • The position requires the ability to regularly lift to 30-pounds, occasionally up to 50-pounds.
