PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the fabrication of 900,000 tons of clinker and cement annually; developing and implementing process improvements that will optimize production of clinker and cement; and for the safe and efficient operations while meeting MSHA and DHEC safety and compliance standards as well as Giant Cement's standard for quality.
- Oversees and evaluates performance for Control Room Operators including training, incident investigation, certification and continuous improvement.
- Monitors the daily performance of the operation and communicates short, medium and long term priority action items to the rest of the operations team (Mechanical, Electrical, Quality, Production etc)
- Ensures processes work at optimum levels and maintaining safe and healthy working conditions and recommends methods to reduce or eliminate accidents and health hazards.
- Perform field measurements and analysis on to monitor performance on major systems and auxiliary equipment such as fans, process instruments etc.
- Recommend, implement, and validate improvements to equipment or production processes.
- Conducts process audits, flow measurements, mass & heat balances as required by the operation.
- Develop written Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all phases of operations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable Engineering programs; Chemistry, Mechanical, or related field AND 5 years of experience as Process Engineer or related.
- Applicants must have demonstrative experience with:
- (5 years) Cement process engineering
- Implementing and optimizing control system for the Pyro-system and Cement Mills
- Evaluating Clinker Microscopy and optimize the Pyro-system and Alternative fuels usage
- Clinker cooler thermodynamic heat balance measuring air and material flows.
- Kiln and preheater tower volatile balance for kiln feed, hot meal, clinker and bypass dust.
- Complete finish mill audit including circulating load, mill granulometry and separator efficiency (Tromp curves)
- Design ball charge and optimize to circulating load.
- Design and interpret raw mix chemistry to optimize kiln feed burnability and troubleshoot kiln performance.
- Studying and analyzing finish mill process data as it correlates to cement product performance
- Assess impact of coal supplier change and modify operating parameters for coal mill explosion safety.
